EAST END HOUSTON TO IGNITE CINCO DE MAYO WITH MEXICAN AND CHICANO ART, MUSIC, FOOD, AND CULTURE

The East End Improvement Corporation (501c3) and the East End Houston Cultural District proudly invite the Houston community to the 2024 East End Street Fest on Saturday, May 4, from 12:00 pm until 6:00 pm on the award-winning Esplanade on Navigation Boulevard. Admission is free.

Young and old will be able to enjoy Cinco de Mayo weekend with a mix of Mexican and Chicano art, music, food, and culture. The East End Street Fest will include over thirty food and art vendors and multiple music and dance performances in different music stages and plazas. The fest will feature Los Skarnales, an international band that performs a mixture of ska, reggae, rockabilly, cumbia, and “danzones,” all with a punk attitude, and other musicians and folk-dance performers such as the trio Dime Que Si, Danza Azteca Taxcayolotl, Chicano Boulevard DJ, mariachi singer Cessar Mandujano, among many others.  Car lovers will enjoy the lowrider car collection at the Show & Shine area, and kids will enjoy a variety of cars and trucks at the Plaza de los Niños.

Since 2012, the East End Street Fest has celebrated Hispanic music, food, art, and culture annually. Thousands have gathered with friends and family to dance and enjoy the rhythms of this historic community.

“In 2024, we’re thrilled to present an electrifying fusion of music and culinary delights right here in our beloved community,” enthused Veronica Chapa Gorczynski, President of the East End District. “We warmly invite all Houstonians to join us and immerse themselves in the East End Houston’s cultural diversity and homegrown businesses. Our upcoming event promises to be a celebration where friends and families of every generation can revel in a secure setting, savoring the rhythms, flavors, and artistic expressions of our cherished Mexican heritage, all set against the backdrop of Cinco de Mayo weekend,” she added.
